Adrian Van Batenburg is a drummer, composer, and music educator with more than three decades of experience. He is a consistent performer in the Pacific Northwest music community across multiple musical genres. Adrian is a founding member of Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints and has led the instrumental improvisational group Gems for more than 10 years. He uses his influences from Jazz drumming, pop music, and African rhythms as a basis for his performances. While the drumset is his primary instrument where he creates a wide range of sounds and emotions, auxiliary percussion instruments provide him with textures needed to enhance his musical expression and the listener’s experience. He currently teaches at Lakeside School, Holy Names Academy and at his home studio. Adrian is based in Seattle where he spends time between gigs with his wonderful wife and two children.
